It’s Pride Week in Vancouver, and to kick off celebrations July 29 the city unveiled an addition to the Davie Street Village streetscape.
City workers painted all four crosswalks at the intersection of Davie and Bute in the rainbow flag late on Sunday night, and the big reveal happened early Monday morning hosted by Canada’s first out provincial cabinet member, Councillor Tim Stevenson.
The installation marks the 35th annual Vancouver Pride Week, and will be a permanent accompaniment to the pink bus shelters that line Davie.
The crosswalks, which cost the city $25,000, are getting a lot of action on social media. Check out some of the online rainbow fandom in action.
