With the arrival of another Tuesday, we feel privileged to bring you another smattering of consumable Can-con. This week’s crop features a couple of anticipated new releases, and a group of inspired newcomers with old bones.
Caribou is back with the followup to his Polaris winning masterpiece Andorra. The album, Swim, will be available April 20th, but you can hear the first single, “Odessa,” right here:
It appears Kelowna, B.C. may have a Zombie(s) infestation, and natives Yukon Blonde have been infected by the virus. Fortunately, they’ve opted for smooth psychedelia in lieu of an insatiable thirst for brains. “Brides Song” is off their self-titled album, which arrived in Canada in February.
Finally, Japandroids are like the pied-pipers of punk rock: their infectious and angsty bursts of energy are just the recipe to lure teenagers (and teenagers-at-heart) to grimey late night rock shows and away from the loving arms or their oppressors. “Art Czars” is their manifesto:
